Bret Curtis¶

I grew up in Virginia, close to Washington D.C. and hold an Academic Bachelor in Computer Science from University of Mary Washington.
I have been in IT/ICT professionally since 2001, mostly as a Linux specialist, and in that time I have worked for an ISP as a systems administrator, software engineer for start-up companies, as an independent consultant and as a Systems Engineer.
In my spare time I have also contributed to many Free and Open Source Software projects.
- OpenMW: Project lead for the open-source engine reimplementation of Morrowind, developed on GitLab.
- My own projects:
- Thirdeye: an open-source reimplementation of the AESOP engine behind "Eye of the Beholder 3" and "Dungeon Hack"
- WildMIDI: a software MIDI player and softsynth library
- Worldsynth: a procedural world generator that renders simulated worlds as usable maps
- TxMongo: an asynchronous MongoDB client for Python Twisted
- Exita: a data export tool that reads a specific character set, much like OCR
- Gentoo Linux: Testing and porting software to work on MIPS based hardware from Silicon Graphics Inc and Cobalt Networks.
- Debian Linux: Package maintainer and cross-platform specialist.

Currently I live and work in Gent, Belgium as a Software Engineering Manager for DoubleVerify. While not at work, I'm a family man who loves playing board-games with my children and friends.
